Apple Chips
Description
Drying apple slices is a traditional preservation method that allows you to enjoy the taste of apples for a longer time. It is an excellent way to use ripe fruits. The dehydration process allows apples to retain their natural taste and nutritional values in a concentrated form.
Recipe
- Prepare ripe, firm apples. Wash them thoroughly to remove contaminants.
- Slice the apples into thin slices about 0.5 to 1 cm thick.
- Remove the core and seeds from the slices.
- To prevent the slices from discoloring, place them in icy water with lemon juice and ice, and leave for 5 minutes.
- Remove the apple slices from the water and thoroughly dry them with paper towels.
- Sprinkle the apple slices with cinnamon to taste.
- Arrange the apple slices on the smoking tray, ensuring they do not touch each other for even drying.
- Place the tray with apples in the Borniak Smoker, ensuring adequate space between them for proper airflow.
- Set the temperature to 60°C and leave for 12 hours until the apples become crispy and slightly shrunk*.
- After drying is complete, remove the apples and let them cool.
- You can store the finished dried apples in an airtight container.
*The dehydrator can only be used at temperatures up to 30°C. The airflow in the cabinet is sufficient for drying thanks to the heaters.
Now you can enjoy delicious, crispy dried apples, perfect as a healthy snack or as an addition to various dishes!
